Magnesium Benefits

Must Have Daily Supplements

Magnesium-  there are several forms of Magnesium. Here is my personal experience with these 2 particular types & my personal benefits of magnesium.  This is a supplement I began using on a daily basis in 2018 after discovering the benefits of it & having a deficiency. Most people including myself get what is available at the store & the most available form is Magnesium Oxide.

Magnesium is an important macronutrient, and it is the fourth most abundant positively-charged ion in the body. It is one of the electrolytes that cause muscles to contract, and it helps regulate your nervous system, blood sugar levels, and blood pressure. Your body needs it to complete more than 300 processes involving enzymes and proteins. Sufficient magnesium can usually be obtained through a normal, healthy diet, but low levels of magnesium can lead to serious problems.

Cardiologists often recommend magnesium oxide because magnesium, as an electrolyte, plays a crucial role in regulating heart rhythm by influencing the electrical signals within the heart muscle, preventing irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias) that can occur when there is a magnesium deficiencyessentially, adequate magnesium levels help maintain a steady heart rate.

Magnesium oxide, often available in capsule form, is commonly used to help a number of concerns, ranging from simple low magnesium levels to more specific concerns, like the following. Relief of Indigestion & Heartburn Magnesium oxide may be used as an antacid to relieve indigestion and heartburn also relief from Constipation & Irregularity.

Why I switched forms of Magnesium.

Magnesium oxide has relatively poor bioavailability, meaning the body has a low ability to absorb it compared to other forms.

2017 rat study Trusted Source demonstrated its low absorption rate, concluding that only 15% of orally administered magnesium oxide was absorbed, while 85% was excreted in the feces. Research suggests the absorption rate is even lower in humans.

Solubility
Magnesium oxide has low solubility in water, which may contribute to its low bioavailability.

Magnesium oxide is still an effective remedy for magnesium deficiency symptoms because it provides more magnesium per tablet. It’s also used as an antacid to treat heartburn, indigestion, or sour stomach, & as a laxative to treat constipation.

Benefits Of Magnesium Taurate

Magnesium Taurate contains the amino acid taurine & studies have shown that it can support cardiovascular health, regulate blood pressure & lower your heart rate. In addition studies are showing it can help improve fitness performance due to a higher bioavailability.

The available evidence about the benefits of magnesium taurate comes from Health.com it is primarily from animal studies. It suggests that magnesium taurate may help to lower blood pressure, improve heart health, regulate insulin sensitivity, prevent and treat cataracts, lower anxiety, & help manage the effects of a traumatic brain injury (TBI).

This form of Magnesium I added to my list of daily supplements in the A.M I take 250mg of Magnesium Oxide then in the evening I take 500mg of Magnesium Taurate. On heavy lift days I may take 2 – 500mg tabs of Magnesium Taurate studies have shown periods of heavy lifting or rigorous exercise can obviously drain not only your electrolytes but your bodies vitamin storage, then add on rounds of fasting you can pull the essential vitamins out of your body real fast.

This supplement has made significant changes for the better in my energy levels, it helped with some of my gut issues in conjunction with Pre & Pro Biotics, Digestive Enzymes, & Fiber. I notice it helps with anxiety at different times also.
